“I Have a Dream”
Creston Hills other wise known as John Wesley charter school was built in 1933 with funding from the public works administration, later on in 1950 5 rooms and a parking lot was added.
In 2003 John Wesley charter schools took over the building, sadly it was only open for 4 years after it was forced to shutdown in 2007 due to it not making its adequate yearly progress.

Creston hills was platted in 1928 by John J. Harden who also developed the neighborhood around the school!
for once in my blog I actually can find the type of architecture it mimics it’s a mission/Spanish colonial revival style, this means it can possibly be added to the national register!

Shortly into 1960 an African American student along with other students of the African American community sued the board of education to end de jur segregation (separation that was mandated by law and enforced by the government)
this went on for 3 years and by 1963 the court found the board intentionally operated a segregated school system in the past and was currently operating such a system.
the court required them to take steps to desegregate its schools and by 1972 the board issued a injunctive decree ordering the board to use buses to transport children of different races to different schools for the sole purpose of eliminating single race schools.

In 2003 Creston Hills closed. Soon after John Wesley charter schools resided in the building, this school was designed to help at-risk kids in 7th-12th grade to continue their education in a setting that enabled them to graduate from highschool. John Wesley school closed in 2012 for unknown reasons.
I don’t know a lot about John Wesley but through the power of Instagram I stumbled upon a few people who would like to stay anonymous told me a few stories over John Wesley. Now whether these are true or not I will leave that up to you

“I was in 8th grade, been kicked out of 4 different schools and didn’t even want to graduate. As a last resort my mom sent me to John Wesley. It was a nice school if you just ignored the different groups. There was 2 main groups, the drop outs and the juveniles. Most of us stayed away from the juveniles they liked to cause issues, that including bullying or stabbing people with forks (they did this to a point they wouldn’t be caught) or just teasing you. I left shortly after 9th grade after my mom took me out since we was moving.”
