Budget Inn, set to be destroyed in 2023. Having over 3k in back taxes, mold, vandalism, and super sketchy items. Wichita Falls Texas has had enough.
Budget Inn was once known as Capri Motor Hotel, opened in 1953 with what was considered the height of luxury having 32 carpeted rooms and air conditioning with television! Like come on that’s the height of comfort!!!!
this was around the time train travel was becoming less popular and we as the people started entering into the height of highways and automobiles

What is now the Budget Inn made its home at Scott Avenue, this was the major highway through town, so multiple abandoned buildings can be seen littered through here.
Although the seeds for Capri was settling it’s demise was in the works, 1954 “Red River Expressway System” which is just the super fancy name for a diverted highway traffic system. 1958 Capri started loosing funding. In a drastic change of events to keep Capri open they started offering low-rent Residential homes ($24 a week, sheets changed every 4 days)

Somewhere down the line Capri changed to the Budget Inn, then who knows when it got abandoned. Seems most is lost in translation. But it was possibly from the lack of a nice area seeing it’s on the outskirts of town.
I stated on my Facebook about a review that was left but after heavy research on my part I found out about multiple police calls to this location as it was a popular spot for sex trafficking trades. This is where the locks, secret walls, and seemed to be left items came from.
This location doesn’t have much to offer as it is heavily destroyed but the history will always be apart of the town. I’m glad I was able to snap a few memories of this place before it’s tore down.
